No world record :(

"Thank you for sending us the details of your recent record proposal for 'Blog Marathon'. We are afraid to say that we are unable to accept this as a Guinness World Record.

We receive over 60,000 enquiries a year from which only a small proportion are approved by our experienced researchers to establish new categories. These are not 'made up' to suit an individual proposal, but rather 'evolve' as a result of international competition in a field, which naturally accommodates superlatives of the sort that we are interested in. We think you will appreciate that we are bound to favour those that reflect the greatest interest.

We appreciate that this may be disappointing to you. We are always keen to hear from people who wish to set a Guinness World Record. If you should need any advice regarding record breaking in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us, quoting the above membership number.

Once again thank you for your interest in Guinness World Records."

I have just emailed those that have already signed up for the blog marathon on March the 11th to explain the reason behind changing the blog marathon date to April 1st 2005 7.30 UK time. This is not an april fools joke :-) actually some people think its quite a lucky day.

Anyway resons for changing the date:

1) It is Red nose day in the UK on the 11th and a few people said they would like to have joined in on the blog but cannnot due to the date.
2) I have sent a request into the Guinness world records in an attempt for us to be considered for the longest blog marathon (26.2 hours) throughout the world.

Sorry about the date change and such late notice the brain wave to be considered for the Guniness world record only came to me early this week and they have such a back log it will take them 4 weeks to look into it. (March 30th was teh earliest date for them). No guarantee of a record but its always fun to try.

Can you make the 1st of April 7.30 UK time? Comment below.

What is a Blog Marathon?
I guess because you are reading this you should know already that a "blog" is a frequently updated personal website.

During this Blogathon, people will update their websites every 30 minutes for 26.2 hours straight.

Like other blog marathons it is an opportunity to bring the blogging community together and also raise awareness of your blog.

When will it take place?

March 11th 2005 @ 7.30PM (UK time)

Where will it take place?
On your own Blog!!! If you do not have one already you can quickly create one at

Why not? It will be fun.

If you would like to join this blogging marathon challenge, then sign up!

How do I Sign up?

Its very simple-Click on the comments link at the end of this post and add your website. Your blog will then be added to the right hand side of this blog marathon website so that people can easily access it.

What do I blog about?

Blog Marathons can have set topics e.g. A movie and each blogger picks a character from that movie to write on. But for this Blog Marathon-Its up to you! What do you want to write about for 26.2 hours?

Why 26.2 hours?
It is equivalent to the amount of miles you run in a marathon (26.2 miles)
